Clausus is an Unity-based narrative game project that was created by the team of:

Andrew Khaw, Anderson Wang, Annie Ho, Nasira Aziz, Wai Chung Lai

The word "Clausus" comes from Latin, means "closed, enclosed, inaccessible". We used the word "Clausus" to name our narrative game due to its suspense storyline.

The story takes place between the two character: horror novelist Sam Falls and the owner of Smith's B&B, Catherine Smith.

The storyline is deployed along the user interaction with hotel objects, the game character, Sam explores the story of Smith's B&B by putting together puzzles.

Interactive objects allow the dialogue trees to expand during the game, which lead to different branches of the storyline.

The narrative structure of the game contains parallel paths to allow a open storyline for player to explore. Moreover, user's decisions with interactive objects could lead to different endings of the game. We think this gives player more room to create their own interpretation of the story.

In order to evaluate the player experience of the game, we conducted a user testing to put the narrative and playfulness into the test.

We also summarized problems and takeaways from creating this narrative game, here is the reflections that we gathered.
